5 Best Teardrop Campers That Sleep 4 (Honest & Practical Reviews)

Camping is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life and connect with nature. But, let’s be honest, spending a night in a tent is not for everyone.

If you’re looking for a little more luxury on your next camping trip, then taking a teardrop trailer is a great option.

Teardrop campers are much smaller and lighter than traditional RVs, making them easy to tow behind most vehicles.

They can also offer all the basic amenities you need for a comfortable camping experience, including a galley kitchen, queen-size bed, compact size, storage space, portable toilet, reading light, freshwater tank, solar panels, wet bath, and air conditioner.

Teardrop models are versatile and perfect for solo travelers or couples. However, if you’re planning on road-tripping with your family or a group of friends Today, I’ll be sharing some of the best teardrop campers that sleep 4 people that I or my friends have used over the last few years. I’ve listed six of the best teardrop trailers for bigger groups below!

What are Teardrop Campers that Sleep 4?

A teardrop camper is a small, lightweight camping trailer that is towed behind a car or SUV. The name comes from its teardrop-shaped body, which is an aerodynamic design and reduces drag while driving.

Teardrop campers are typically outfitted with basic amenities like a kitchenette, a sleeping area, and storage space. Some models also include features like air conditioning and a shower. Teardrop campers are popular among couples and solo travelers who want to enjoy the outdoors without roughing it.

They are easy to tow and can be parked in typical camping spots like RV parks and national forests. Best of all, they offer all the comforts of home while still feeling like an adventure.

Bend Teardrop

I have to say, when Josh first suggested we take a teardrop camping trip, I was a little hesitant. But after doing some research and finding out about Bend Teardrops, I was sold! They have three models – the Classic Teardrop Model (5ftx8ft), the Popular Teardrop Model (5ftx10ft), and the Family Teardrop Model (6ft×12ft). We decided to go with the Family model, and it was definitely the right decision!

The Cabin has two cabinet doors and two porthole windows, as well as a 10-speed 2-way max fan roof vent. It also comes with driver and passenger side porch lights. The 6×12 model even comes with external access storage cabinets! The 10-foot-long cabin floor fits a California king mattress (84″x70.5″) and has a full-size bunk (70.5″x54″) which is ideal for 2-3 kids or 1 adult.

Overall, we were really happy with our Bend Teardrop Camper. It was easy to set up and transport, and it provided us with a comfortable place to sleep and relax while we were outdoors. It was definitely a unique way to camp, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a new and exciting camping experience!

Some cool features at a glance

  • The teardrop cabin was really easy to maneuver and back up.
  • It fit an actual queen-sized mattress, which was really comfortable.
  • The galley kitchen
  • The cabins are fully insulated, so they’re perfect for colder climates.
  • Since they’re small, there’s no need for any kind of towing or leveling – it’s really easy to set up and take down.
  • The upkeep is minimal, so you don’t have to worry about any extra work while you’re on your trip.
  • Portable solar panels are a great option for people who want the flexibility to move them around depending on where they’re camping.

Some downside that I didn’t like about this model

One downside to a bend teardrop is that, at 1,750 lb, it is quite heavy. This can make it difficult to tow, especially for smaller vehicles. Additionally, the external storage cabinets under the back of the bunk can be difficult to access.

Features that would have made my experience better

From my personal experience, I would suggest including a few more storage areas inside the camper as well as outside. Additionally, I would recommend adding a small table or area for dining as opposed to just having one bench seat. Finally, it might be nice to have a slightly larger trailer to accommodate more people.

Homegrown’s Timberline

The Timberline teardrop trailer by Homegrown is the perfect getaway vehicle for anyone looking to explore nature. It’s got all the facilities – solar powered, sleeps up to 5, comfortable wet bath area, kitchen with sink, fridge and cooktop, air-tight and insulated with wool, store energy for multiple days usage…the list goes on. Plus, it comes with all the standard features like trailer brakes, an external gray water tank, a 23-gallon freshwater tank for sink and shower, composting toilet, and healthy indoor space hot water for 2.5 gallons!

We took this trailer on a camping trip and loved every minute of it! The large windows provide plenty of natural light and airflow, while the comfortable bed is made for a great night’s sleep. The built-in kitchen was a real bonus, allowing us to cook our meals right inside the trailer. And thanks to solar power, we were able to stay off the grid for several days without any problems.

Overall, we were extremely impressed with the Timberline teardrop trailer and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and affordable way to experience nature.

Some cool features at a glance

  • Sleeps up to 5
  • Comfortable wet bath area
  • Air-tight and insulated with wool
  • Composting toilet
  • Healthy indoor space
  • Either bunk beds or dinette
  • Heat and air conditioning optional
  • Many 120V and USB power outlets
  • Trailer brakes standard
  • External gray water tank
  • Large windows for lots of light and airflow
  • Floor plan 23’L x 7’11”W x 8’11”H and 4,250 – 4,750 lbs dry weight

Some downside that I didn’t like about this model

There are a few downsides that I didn’t like about this model. First, the trailer brakes are standard, which is great, but it does add a good bit of weight to the overall trailer. Second, the freshwater system only holds 23 gallons, so you have to be mindful of how long you’ll be staying somewhere. Finally, the heat and air conditioning are optional, so if you’re planning on using this in cold temperatures, you’ll need to budget for that.

Features that would have made my experience better

If I could add these features, it would be a fan to circulate the air. We had a great time camping in the Timberline, but it was a little warm inside without a fan. It would have been nice to have an outdoor table and chairs to eat at. We ended up eating all our meals inside because there was nowhere to sit outside.

Colorado Teardrops Summit

If you’re looking for a comfortable, stylish, and safe teardrop camper trailer to camp in all outdoor adventures, Colorado Teardrops is the perfect brand for you! We took the Summit model on an epic camping trip in 2019 and it absolutely exceeded our expectations.

The Summit has a powder-coated steel frame and welded aluminum cabin side walls, making it extremely durable and capable of withstanding any terrain or weather condition. It also comes with a queen-sized mattress, two 5-foot long bunk beds for the kids/dogs, a fold-out dinette with 2 couches and a dining table, and fits into most garages. With the option for an additional 3rd interior bunk bed and/or a rooftop tent up top, our teardrop camper trailers can comfortably accommodate most family sizes.

One of our favorite features of the Summit was its off-road capabilities – we were able to take it through some seriously rough terrain without any problems. This makes it perfect for all sorts of outdoor adventures – from camping in the woods to road tripping across America.

Overall, we absolutely loved our experience with Colorado Teardrops and would highly recommend their products to anyone looking for an amazing camping trip!

  • Welded aluminum cabin side-walls
  • Queen-sized mattress
  • Two 5-foot-long bunk beds
  • Fold-out dinette with 2 couches and a dining table
  • Can accommodate most family sizes
  • Off-road capable
  • Four-season camping

Downsides that I didn’t like about this model

One downside of the Colorado Teardrop Camper Trailer is that it doesn’t come with a bathroom. You will have to use campground facilities or find an alternate way to relieve yourself.

Features that would have made my experience better

If only a power supply had been included in the trailer, we wouldn’t have had to worry about our phones and devices dying. Unfortunately, there were only a few windows that didn’t provide enough airflow or lighting. And on hot days, it would have been nice to have a fan to cool us down.

Happier Camper

We had the chance to try out the Happier Camper HCT on our latest camping trip and we were really impressed! This camper is perfect for a family of four as it has a semi-modular interior that allows you to move sections as needed. The secret to the modular system is the honeycomb flooring – you just detach a piece and snap it into another section whenever you want. The HCT comes with a kitchenette and bathroom, so you can stay for extended periods without being dependent on others.

One of the best things about the HCT is the amount of space it offers. We are a family of four and we never felt cramped or like we were running out of space. The modular interior also allows you to rearrange things as needed so you can have more space for certain activities or more privacy when you need it. The cold-weather insulation was also a nice touch – we didn’t have any issues with the temperature inside the camper, even when it was freezing outside.

The kitchenette was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals, including a stove, sink, and plenty of counter space. We were really surprised at how much storage space there was inside the camper – we were able to fit all of our food and cooking supplies easily. The bathroom was also very spacious and had plenty of towels and other supplies. It was nice not having to use the public bathrooms or deal with messy portable toilets. Overall, we were very impressed with the amenities that were included with this camper.

If you’re looking for a spacious, comfortable teardrop camper that has all the amenities you need, then we highly recommend checking out the Happier Camper HCT. We had a great experience with this camper and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an easy-to-use option that offers plenty of space.

Some cool features at a glance

  • High-quality fiberglass construction
  • Semi-modular interior
  • All-season insulation, hot water, and heater
  • Robust power system, solar-ready
  • Built to last & handcrafted
  • The honeycomb flooring can be detached and snapped into other sections, making the interior modular
  • The HCT comes with a full kitchenette and bathroom, making it self-sufficient
  • It can sleep up to 5 people
  • The camper is made with easy-to-clean surfaces

Downsides that I didn’t like about this model

The Happier Camper HCT only offers a semi-modular interior, which can be a bit limiting when it comes to customization. And the honeycomb flooring can be a bit tricky to maneuver if you’re not used to it. But, with a little bit of elbow grease, you can make this camper your own!

Features that would have made my experience better

It would have been great if the interior of the car were a bit more spacious, but at least there was enough room for all of our luggage. An awning would have been very useful to provide some shade and keep the interior cooler, but unfortunately, it didn’t come with the rental. It would have been really helpful to have a roof rack to store our luggage on top, but sadly that was not an option either.

I was really excited to check out my friend Josh’s new Cricket trailer. When I arrived, I could see that it had a really futuristic design, thanks to its sharp angles and unique silhouette. In addition, the layout allows for more features, so there’s a method in the madness.

This trailer comes with a portable toilet and freshwater tank standard, It’s also equipped with a combination furnace/hot water heater so that you can use water while cooking.
